BackgroundThe USAID Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and SupplyManagement (GHSC-PSM) project collaborates with governments andnon-governmental agencies to ensure the uninterrupted supply of healthcommodities in support of United States Government-funded public healthinitiatives in Nigeria. The project provides direct procurement and supplychain management support to the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief(PEPFAR), President's Malaria Initiative (PMI), and Population and ReproductiveHealth. For more information about GHSC-PSM, please see The Senior Manager, Learning and Strategic Communication,supports and manages aspects of the project's internal and external learningand communication activities in Nigeria.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport the Director, Learning, Knowledge Management, and StrategicCommunications (LKM&SC) with the development of communications strategy andimplementation and adherence to the GHSC-PSM communications protocolServe as acting Director LKM&SC when the Director is absent.Support implementation of holistic documentation (includingevidence gathering) of the program's current phase; assist Director LKM&SCwith planning and organizing the development of the end-of-program report anddissemination.Support gathering, writing, editing, producing, anddistributing content and other communication products that support the implementationof the GHSC-PSM Nigeria LKM&SC strategyWrite and produce high-quality, informative, and interestingcontent for a variety of communication mediums, including success stories,abstracts, press releases, press kits, print and digital handouts, FAQs,talking points, newsletters, success stories, articles, blog posts,presentations, infographics, posters, journal articles, conference and eventmaterials, training resources, social media content, and related materialsAssist with strategic coordination, ensuring the review andanalysis of key program deliverables, including quarterly and annual reports,are ready for submission to USAID, ensuring timeliness, completeness, andcontent quality.Support proactive updates and implementation of internalcommunication strategy by keeping employees informed and motivated throughseveral channels, including staff intranet, email bulletins, social media, andnewsletter.Promote and ensure compliance with internal and externalcommunications standards, guidelines, processes, and protocols, includingbranding and marking.Organize and maintain communication resources such asstandard operating procedures, brand and marking guidelines, trackers, tools,templates, and visual assets (including photographs, video, icons,illustrations, and information graphics) on an approved shared platform andensure that current and new staff know how to access and utilize theseresources.Write content for social media, websites, newsletters, pressreleases, and any other distribution channels.Proactively source, capture and write story leads intocompelling communication productsProvide editorial, design, and production support to alldepartments as needed Manage and maintain an editorial calendar, monitoring theprogress of drafts, reviews, and revisions to ensure that deadlines are met.Work closely with the GHSC-PSM HQ on communicationcampaigns, annual reports, and other communications activities. Provide newand/or updated written material for websites, newsletters, and social media.Support the cross-fertilization and cross-learning ofknowledge and information among national, regional, and state teams.Plan and facilitate workshops and learning activities suchas brown bags and learn bites to enhance staff learning on topics such asbranding compliance, how to write success stories, and capturing compellingphotos.Participate in team building, capacity building, and workplanning activities to promote and support best practices.Maintain a vibrant media network; proactively identify andleverage media and press opportunities, with approval from the LKM&SCDirector.Manage the distribution of media release forms and maintaina file with signed release forms.Support efforts to improve the project's visibility inNigeria and the USAID Mission, including efforts to create and deliver projectexperience, results and lessons learned to internal and external audiences.Support events that showcase achievements and attract theparticipation of key personalities within federal and state governments and theUSAID Mission.Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.RequirementsQualificationsMaster's degree in Communications, Journalism, publicrelations, Knowledge Management, Public Health, International Development, or arelated field.Minimum of seven years of experience in communications,International Development, Public Administration, and/or knowledgemanagement/strategy; experience working in the supply chain, public health,and/or USAID-funded projects strongly preferred.Minimum three years of professional experience in leading andmanaging LKM&SC initiatives for development and especially health programs.Thorough understanding of communication theory and practice.Excellent command of the English language (verbal andwritten) with a proven ability to communicate in writing complex informationfor non-experts (writing samples will be requested).Strong writer and producer of content for print and digitalmedia.Experienced facilitator of formal and informal learningevents, including brown bags, learn bites, workshops, and training tosocialize, support, and sustain communication activities.Proficient media engagement experience and robust socialmedia networkExcellent organizational and project management skills, withthe proven ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle numerous projects simultaneouslyin a fast-paced environment.Experience facilitating strategic meetings, includingreflection meetings and tracking deliverablesAbility to work independently and in teams in a multiculturalcontext.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish andmaintain strong working relationships with all levels of GHSC-PSM staff,partners, and other stakeholders.Demonstrate good judgment, leadership, versatility, andintegrity.Excellent computer skills in a full range of software, includingMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), SharePoint, AdobePhotoshop and/or other graphics programs, and webinar platforms AdobeConnect, WebEx, Skype for Business).BenefitsReportingThe Senior Manager, Learning and Strategic Communication,will report directly to the Director LKM&SC.Supervisory RoleThe Senior Manager, Learning and Strategic Communicationwill supervise the LKM&SC Officer (Regions 1&2)Working conditionsThis is a long-term positionfor the life of the contract based in Abuja, Nigeria.
