Quarry Accounts Manager
Job summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented quarry accounts manager to oversee the financial operations of our quarry business. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving financial performance, strengthening internal controls, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic financial insights that support operational efficiency and profitability.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Provide overall financial leadership and oversight of the quarry's accounting operations.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of Accounts Officers, Weighbridge Clerks, and Storekeepers.
- Prepare and monitor annual budgets, financial forecasts, and capital expenditure plans.
- Analyze and optimize operational costs, including Drilling and blasting expenses, Fuel consumption, Tyre utilization, Equipment maintenance and downtime
- Manage customer accounts, receivables, credit sales, and cash flow.
- Ensure compliance with mining regulations, statutory requirements, tax obligations, and royalty payments.
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly financial performance reports to management.
- Develop and implement effective financial controls to safeguard company assets and improve operational efficiency.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure accurate financial documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance management, preferably within the quarry, mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial sector.
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
- Strong financial modelling, budgeting, and cost analysis skills.
- Sound understanding of quarry operations, mining processes, and heavy equipment cost structures.
- Excellent leadership, supervisory, and team management abilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain robust financial controls within a high-risk operational environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/Accounting software.
