Project Accountant
Job summary
To provide end-to-end financial management and control of assigned projects from budget set up through to final close out of assigned projects. The role will provide accounting oversight for our capital expansion project by managing CapEx tracking, asset capitalization, procurement-related financial processes, and vendor payments. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards while bridging on-site project progress with corporate financial systems to ensure timely, transparent, and reliable financial management of all project expenditures. Working closely with project managers and quantity surveyors, the Project Accountant provides timely, reliable financial information that enables management to track and manage cash flow, anticipate cost overruns and make informed commercial decisions across the project portfolio.

Responsibilities:
- CapEx Governance: Establish and maintain robust financial control frameworks for the entire project budget, tracking actual expenditures against approved capital allocations.
- Vendor & Cash Flow Logistics: Manage the financial pipeline for international OEMs and local contractors; oversee invoice verifications, multi-currency payments, and tax retentions (WHT, VAT).
- Asset Capitalization: Create a detailed Fixed Asset Register (FAR), tracking components from Work-in-Progress (WIP) status to formal capitalization as the plant goes live.
- Audit & Compliance: Ensure all project expenditures comply with IFRS standards, corporate governance manuals, and local statutory requirements.
- Strategic Reporting: Provide the Project Director and Group CFO through the Group Head of Financial Planning & Analysis with real-time financial reporting, burn-rate metrics, and cash flow forecasts.
- Cost Tracking & Financial Monitoring: Maintain real-time tracking of all project costs, commitments, and actuals against budget forecasts.
- Tax Compliance & Statutory Deductions: Ensure proper application and remittance of WHT, VAT, and other statutory obligations on project transactions.
- Stakeholder Financial Liaison: Act as the financial interface between project teams, contractors , , and corporate finance departments.
- Integrated Management System: Documents, implements, and maintains the requirements of the Quality, Food Safety, Environment, Health, and Safety management systems.
Requirements:
- A minimum of a degree in accounting or a related discipline.
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA) is required
- Minimum of 8 years of project accounting, cost control, or fixed asset accounting experience—ideally within manufacturing or capital projects.
- A financially meticulous professional with a firm grasp of capital project structures, multi-currency transactions, and enterprise ERP systems.
