Production Manager

The Production Manager is responsible for the end-to-end execution of manufacturing operations - from raw material intake to finished product output.

Responsibilities:
- Translating sales orders and forecasts into executable production plans
- Coordinating with Procurement to ensure materials are available ahead of production cycles
- Managing production priorities and communicating changes clearly to the floor
- Tracking daily, weekly, and monthly output against targets
- Identifying and eliminating bottlenecks before they cause delays
- Documenting and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all production processes
- Identifying process inefficiencies and driving continuous improvement
- Ensuring correct sequencing, tooling, and methods are used consistently
- Applying engineering thinking to reduce waste, rework, and variation
- Managing, deploying, and developing the production team
- Setting clear expectations for output, behaviour, and accountability
- Running daily briefings and shift handovers with discipline
- Identifying skills gaps and coordinating training
- Addressing performance issues quickly and fairly
- Ensuring products are built to design specifications and finish standards
- Embedding quality checks into the production process, not after it
- Investigating and resolving root causes of defects and rework
- Maintaining reject and rework logs and driving those numbers down
- Monitoring production KPIs daily and reporting against targets weekly
- Tracking output per person, per shift, per product line
- Flagging capacity constraints and recommending solutions
- Maintaining accurate production records for costing, planning, and compliance
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Working with the Facilities & HSE Manager to maintain safe and functional workspaces
- Coordinating with Design and Product teams on new product introduction and production feasibility
- Partnering with Procurement on material specs, lead times, and supplier quality
- Supporting HR in recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of production staff
Requirements:
- 5–10+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment
- Proven track record in managing and leading production teams
- Strong working knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and process control
- Hands-on experience building or enforcing SOPs and quality systems
- Ability to read technical drawings, BOMs, and production specifications
- Demonstrated ability to drive output while maintaining quality standards
- Engineering background (mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or related)
- Experience in furniture manufacturing, woodworking, or high-end product manufacturing
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience managing production in a growing or scaling operation
- A natural leader, people follow you because you're clear, fair, and competent

- Calm under production pressure, breakdowns, delays, and shortfalls do not rattle you
- Hands-on when needed, you are not above the floor
