Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and continuously review the Bank's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework, policies, and procedures.
- Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate strategic, operational, credit, market, liquidity, compliance, and reputational risks across the Bank.
- Ensure full compliance with the CBN Regulatory and Supervisory Guidelines for Microfinance Banks, NDIC requirements, AML/CFT regulations, KYC standards, NDPA, and other applicable laws and regulatory directives.
- Develop and maintain an effective compliance monitoring programme to ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory obligations.
- Conduct periodic enterprise-wide risk assessments and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies to Executive Management.
- Review new products, services, operational processes, and business initiatives to identify and address potential regulatory and operational risks before implementation.
- Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), compliance breaches, and emerging risks, and provide timely reports and recommendations to Executive Management and the Board.
- Coordinate regulatory examinations, compliance reviews, and respond to regulatory observations, findings, and queries.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of all regulatory compliance reports and statutory returns.
- Promote a strong risk management and compliance culture through staff awareness programmes, policy reviews, and regular training.
- Work closely with Internal Audit, Operations, Finance, Credit, Human Resources, and Information Technology to strengthen governance and internal control systems.
- Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and industry practices and advise Management on their impact on the Bank's operations.
- Investigate compliance breaches and operational incidents, recommend corrective actions, and monitor implementation.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop members of the Risk & Compliance team to ensure continuous improvement and high performance.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Executive Management or the Board.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Law, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Mandatory: MCIB certification.
- Minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience, with at least 4 years in the financial services industry and 2 years in a management or supervisory role, in line with CBN competency requirements for Key Management Staff of Microfinance Banks.
- Strong knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management, corporate governance, operational risk, credit risk, regulatory compliance, AML/CFT, KYC requirements, and banking regulations.
- Sound understanding of the CBN Regulatory and Supervisory Guidelines for Microfinance Banks and other applicable financial sector regulations.
- Excellent analytical, investigative, report-writing, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and sound ethical judgment.
- Professional certifications such as ACIB, CAMS, CISA, CRISC, CIA, ACA, ACCA, or other relevant professional certifications will be an added advantage.
