Head, Financial controller and Budgeting
Job summary
We are seeking an experienced Head, Financial Controller & Budgeting to provide leadership over the Group's financial reporting, consolidation, budgeting, financial controls, cost management and performance management activities across its steel manufacturing, mining and energy businesses.

Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Consolidation:
- Lead Group-wide monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and consolidation across subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with IFRS and applicable regulations.
- Standardise accounting policies, reporting processes, intercompany eliminations, foreign currency translation and financial close across the Group.
- Coordinate statutory audits and ensure timely management and financial reporting to the GED-F and Group Executive Committee.
Budgeting, Planning & Performance Management:
- Lead the annual Group budgeting process, 3–5 year financial planning and rolling forecasts across steel, mining and energy businesses.
- Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, analyse key variances and provide actionable insights to management.
- Track key financial and operational indicators including EBITDA, margins, production costs, cost per tonne, energy costs and ROCE.
Financial Controls & Cost Management:
- Strengthen the Group's financial control framework, accounting policies and governance processes across subsidiaries.
- Oversee cost accounting, standard costing and cost-control processes, particularly across manufacturing and mining operations.
- Identify cost drivers, operational inefficiencies and opportunities for sustainable cost optimisation.
CAPEX & Fixed Asset Management
- Oversee Group-wide CAPEX planning, approval, monitoring and post-investment reviews, ensuring robust financial evaluation and budget discipline.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, impairment, disposal, revaluation and periodic physical verification.
ERP & Finance Transformation
- Lead finance utilisation of ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle or equivalent for reporting, budgeting and financial control.
- Drive automation, systems improvement and data integration to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency and decision-making.
Leadership & Business Partnership
- Lead and develop financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting and financial control teams across the Group.
- Partner with subsidiary CFOs, Finance Managers and operational leaders to strengthen financial accountability and business performance.
- Provide the GED-F and Group Executive Committee with timely financial analysis, insights and recommendations to support strategic decisions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
- ACA (ICAN) or ACCA is mandatory; CIMA is an added advantage.
- Master's degree/MBA in Finance, Business Administration or a related field is an advantage.
- 12–16 years' progressive finance experience, including at least 5 years in a Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller or senior financial reporting role.
- Proven experience in financial consolidation and reporting across multiple subsidiaries, preferably within a holding company, conglomerate or large industrial group.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, particularly IAS 16, IAS 36, IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IAS 2 and IAS 12.
- Strong experience in budgeting, financial planning, forecasting and performance management within a multi-entity environment.
- Hands-on cost accounting experience in manufacturing, steel, cement, FMCG, mining or a similar industrial environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience with SAP FI/CO, Oracle Financials or equivalent ERP systems, advanced Excel and financial modelling.
- Experience coordinating statutory audits with Big Four or leading audit firms.
