Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Communications Officer to join our team full-time. This role is ideal for someone enthusiastic about youth development, young women issues, the arts, and the nonprofit sector. The successful candidate will be a creative and proactive team player.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Programs and Communications Support

  • Document program activities and meetings by taking clear, organized notes.
  • Develop and format PowerPoint presentations for both internal briefings and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate logistics for project-related materials, including organization and shipment.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and executing GCAF events and workshops.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to ensure smooth program delivery.

 

Social Media Management

  • Create and coordinate content for social media campaigns across platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and the GCAF blog.
  • Develop engaging photo captions and posts to promote GCAF activities and events.


Report Writing

  • Prepare reports after every session.
  • Write project descriptions, corporate bios, and newsletters.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in tools like MailChimp for e-newsletters and general email communications.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations for meetings and events.


Photo, Video, and Graphic Design

  • Edit and format photos and videos for web and social media.
  • Perform basic photo, video, and audio editing.
  • Design infographics to visually communicate key messages.


Media Relations

  • Conduct interviews and prepare media reports on assigned subjects.
  • Assist with drafting, editing, distributing press releases and media advisories.
  • Coordinate media outreach and schedule photo/video shoots.


Requirements:

  • A graduate in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, digital filmmaking, graphic design, digital media, or a related field.
  • Demonstrates honesty, creativity, and self-motivation.
  • Experience in at least three of the following areas: social media management, report writing, photo/video editing, graphic design, or media relations.
