Job Description/Requirements

The company requires the services of a Software Development Team Lead that will take a senior position in the IT team and report to Executive Director (Operations) and the Project Director.  The person will be working with:

  • The in-house IT team and software development contractors;

  • Data Centre, database, communication and operational team;

This is both a production and management position and the Software Development Team Lead will be required to:

  • Work with the team to maintain a secure, high availability, up to date and efficient secure identity management;

  • Determine work priorities with regards to software maintenance, operations and development in consultation with management, work allocation, delivery, testing and deployment;

  • Develop more complicated system components, integration and other software development jobs;

  • Manage and support IT teams and act as a leader and mentor for other software developers;

  • Ensure that software produced by the team meets the functional requirements, comply with in-house standards and maintain global best practice;

  • Setup of comprehensive testing and deployment programmes;

  • Report regularly on progress, plans, risks, issues, manpower utilization and related topics;

The Software Development Team Lead will also be required to work with management in the: 

  • Establishment and maintenance of a high-level functional, technical and deployment design/masterplan;

  • Establishment of policies, procedures and high-level designs related to access control, data security, audit trails, log management and other security related issues and control;

  • Review database structures and planned migration with the Project Manager and Database Manager;

  • Establishment and maintenance of a map/timeline of software development tasks in coordination with the Project Manager;

  • Review of detail component designs from operational super users to ensure compliance with the requirements;

  • Review production code and testing executed and coordinate additional work/testing to be done;

  • Review of functional and technical components for performance issues and coordinate optimization;

  • Review of the technology stack, software architecture, database, deployment and other technical issues with the Project Manager and Database Manager and the formalization of policies and procedure for the development team to follow;

The successful candidate will have:

  • A relevant IT degree.  A post graduate degree will be an advantage;

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the development of complex corporate systems and delivery on typical job requirements as stated above;

  • Proven experience in a Microsoft and related development environment;

  • Proven experience with MS SQL, Oracle and /or PostgreSQL, including

  • C##

  • ASP Net frame work
