Senior Nephrologist
Job Summary
Our Client is looking for a nephrologist who will play a supervisory role in ensuring maximum standard of care is maintained in the facility. As a specialist in the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients suffering from kidney issues, the nephrologist will deal with all expected complications and manage it by liaising with other consultants.

- Diagnose patients and recommend investigations for determining and evaluating the extent and nature of kidney disorders or injuries.
- Oversees long-term care planning, including counseling about, and referral for transplantation when appropriate
- Prescribe post dialysis and surgical maintenance medications.
- Administer anti-rejection treatment to counteract infections or preclude rejection in kidney transplants.
- Refer patients suspected of tumorous kidney to relevant oncologists.
- Keep abreast with new developments in renal care and dialysis
- Maintain and ensure that relevant patient records are properly updated and filed in the electronic medical record system.
- Conducting scheduled consultations to diagnose illnesses.
- Evaluates all new patients, coordinates with nursing staff for diagnosis and short- and long- term treatment management.
- Observes all safety measures applicable to patients with end stage renal disease.
- Performs approved vascular procedures (e.g., temporary dialysis line insertion) and direct supervision of the dialysis nurses during performance of vascular procedures
- Leads local dialysis committees and administrative functions in coordination with the dialysis head nurse.
- Identifies issues affecting normal clinic operations, patient care, visitor safety or staff well-being and coordinates with head nurse and DHDC management to devise and implement corrective action plans.
- Tracks and monitors all quality improvement data and clinical audits on monthly basis within the centre, with quarterly reports to the management.
- Participates in addressing issues related to water quality and testing as needed
- Ensures centre preparedness at all times to handle emergency care of patients, including proper training of staff, equipment readiness, and procedures in place
- Assumes responsibility for monitoring, revising and reporting the monthly clinic quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) data with their action plans

Requirements
- At least Five (5) years (post specialisation) relevant experience in clinical practice
- Knowledge in the use of high technology devices and tools in diagnosing and treating renal disorders.
- Leadership & Supervisory skills and performance management skills
- Ability to work effectively in team environment
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
- Should possess excellent communication skills
- Should possess excellent interpersonal and people management skills.
- Strong orientation towards patients support and responsiveness
- Minimum of M.B.B.S degree with specialisation in nephrology (Additional Certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS will be an added advantage
