Job Description:

We are looking for a Head of Sales Marketing & Brand to help grow Africa's leading online music service focused on the mass market. The company has 24.5m monthly users across Africa, with Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Kenya being main markets, music licensed directly from +150,000 African musicians and 1.7m international songs available through licensing agreements with Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group and Believe Digital. We have experienced rapid growth in recent years and we are currently a team of 40 full-time staff spread across Africa. Our focus is on 5 African countries for now and aims to grow to 50,000,000 users before June 2025.

We offer millions of songs from Africa and abroad for free download and streaming.

The music can be accessed directly from our website and Android app, including the newest releases, DJ mixes, playlists, podcasts and music news.
We monetise our platform through advertisement sales as well as telco-bundle subscriptions paid by the end-consumer.
We pay the rights owners a revenue split on all revenue generated on the recordings.

The company did an IPO in September 2020 and is listed at Nasdaq First North Growth Markets in Copenhagen, Denmark.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced and motivated creative executive with a strong passion for driving demand and lead generation for our sales teams across Africa. You will be part of the Pan-African Ad-Sales Team and reporting to the Head of Ad-sales in Kenya. We are a publicly listed company at the stock exchange Nasdaq First North in Copenhagen and as a part of the sales team, you will be directly responsible for the results of the company.

We have developed “the company for Brands” as a platform to attract and engage with Africa’s biggest agencies and advertisers. The platform is highly data-driven and our aim is to serve personal and highly influential advertisements to our audience. Our commercial focus is on Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana and our solutions are targeting the top advertisers and agencies in each country. Our main product is the “Company’s Audio Ads” which is an audio advertisement embedded in front of all songs downloaded from our website.

Over the last 12 months we've worked with clients such as: Coca-Cola, Diageo, Standard Chartered Bank, Betika, Betking, Guinness, Coop Bank, Safaricom, Vodacom, Sportpesa, Carrefour, 9mobile, Betpawa, Betsafe, Diamond Trust Bank, Airtel, Nivea among many others.

You will be responsible for the company’s For Brand’s advertisement platform including product innovation, product management, brand building, lead generation, content marketing, sales materials and campaign management / ad-operations.

Job Objectives: Developing and executing a sales marketing plan to drive demand and revenue for the business including brand building, direct marketing, content marketing and proposals.

Success Criteria:

Grow the company’s For Brands ad-solution through targeted brand building and performance marketing within Africa’s 50-100 biggest brands and top 50 advertising agencies.
Manage and improve the company’s For Brand’s sales pitch including product innovation of the company’s Brand Lift Platform and Audio Ads.
Grow business from current clients through excellent campaign executing, report and case-studies.

Responsibilities:

Sales Marketing & Brand Strategy: Set and execute the overall strategy for marketing and brand for company’s advertisement sales products with the ultimate goal of driving revenue.
Product Development: Management of the performance and improvement of company’s audio advertising format and solutions including company Brand Lift.
Value Proposition Development: Create sales materials and case studies clearly communicating the unique value proposition of company For Brands driving advertisement sales for company.
Direct Marketing: Grow engagements, online and offline, with top brands and advertising agencies across Africa.
Oversee customer success: Contentiously analyze, develop, execute and evaluate company’s ad sales activities.

Company Introduction: 303 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa have access to the internet on their phones – this is expected to grow to 474 million in 2025. Mobile subscribers are already listening to music on their phones, but primarily through illegal downloads similar to the situation in Europe and the US around 15 years ago. For several reasons, Africa is now moving in the same direction as the West and music is increasingly accessed through legal music services targeting the African market.

Our Market: There are (generally speaking) few record labels in Africa and illegally-distributed music is very popular – just as it was in the West in the past. Global music service providers are partly available in Africa, but they aren’t tailored to local consumers’ listening habits. Around 80% of all the music enjoyed on the continent is created by African artists.
Our Music Service: We are 100% tailor-made for audiences across Africa. Our music platform is accessed through our mobile website, and through our android app. It is optimized for unstable internet connections and affordable smartphones, popular with African consumers.
Our Strategy: We are focusing on 15 countries in Africa with a commercial focus in Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana and Uganda. We want to be the premier, legal, pan-African music service and we expect significant growth over the next five years through geographical expansion and pan-African partnerships.


Requirements

Requirements:

Bachelor Degree level ideally in communication, business or related field.
Min. 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferable across Africa at agencies or media / entertainment companies.
Excellent understanding of data and data visualization as well as strong creative skills. Ability to swiftly and beautifully create sales proposals / presentations.
Track record of end-to-end corporate sales including strategizing, proposal making, pitching and executing.
Good understanding of digital media and advertising.
Strong drive and an ability to work independently and in a team
