Head of Commerce

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Head of Commerce will own and scale Strivo Labs’ end-to-end commercial function. This role is responsible for revenue strategy, marketplace growth, product monetisation, payments and billing systems, partnerships, and go-to-market execution across Strivo’s digital products and platforms.
This is a senior leadership role for a commercially minded operator with deep experience across e-commerce, technology products, SaaS, and financial services ecosystems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth
•
Develop and execute Strivo Labs’ overall commerce and revenue strategy across all products and services.
•
Design pricing, packaging, and monetisation models including subscriptions, transaction fees, enterprise licensing, and usage-based billing.
•
Own commercial targets, forecasting, and P&L performance.
E-commerce & Marketplace Leadership
•
Lead the growth and optimisation of marketplace platforms and client e-commerce solutions.
•
Oversee vendor acquisition, onboarding, category management, and merchant performance.
•
Drive GMV growth, conversion optimisation, customer retention, and repeat transactions.
•
Build strong logistics, fulfilment, and merchant success frameworks.
Product Commercialisation (SaaS & Digital Products)
•
Lead go-to-market strategies for Strivo’s SaaS and digital products, including Strivo OmniDial, CRM, automation tools, and portals.
•
Work closely with Product and Engineering to align roadmaps with commercial opportunities.
•
Drive customer acquisition, retention, expansion, and cross-sell strategies.
Payments & Financial Services Ecosystem
•
Oversee payment infrastructure, billing systems, invoicing, settlements, and revenue assurance.
•
Manage integrations with PSPs, fintech platforms, and banking partners.
•
Implement controls to minimise fraud, chargebacks, revenue leakage, and settlement delays.
•
Ensure compliance with applicable financial and data protection regulations.
Sales, Growth & Partnerships
•
Build and scale B2B and B2C sales pipelines across Strivo’s offerings.
•
Lead strategic partnerships with fintechs, telcos, logistics providers, and technology platforms.
•
Develop channel and reseller programmes to accelerate distribution.
•
Collaborate with Marketing to drive demand generation and growth campaigns.
Data, Performance & Reporting
•
Establish dashboards and reporting frameworks to track revenue, GMV, churn, LTV, CAC, and product usage.
•
Use data to inform pricing, growth decisions, and product prioritisation.
•
Provide regular commercial performance updates to leadership.
Team Leadership & Operations
•
Build and lead a high-performing commerce organisation covering sales, marketplace operations, onboarding, and partnerships.
•
Set clear KPIs, accountability structures, and execution rhythms.
•
Foster a culture of ownership, speed, and customer focus.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience
•
7–12+ years of experience in commerce, revenue, or growth leadership roles within e-commerce, SaaS, fintech, or technology-driven businesses.
•
Proven track record scaling a marketplace, digital product, or technology platform.
•
Strong experience with payments, billing systems, and financial services integrations.
•
Experience operating across both B2B and B2C models.
•
African market experience is strongly preferred.

•
Deep understanding of marketplace economics and SaaS monetisation.
•
Excellent negotiation, partnership, and stakeholder management skills.
•
Data-driven decision-making and financial acumen.
•
Ability to work closely with technical teams and translate product into revenue.
•
Strong leadership, communication, and execution capability.
Education
•
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
•
MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage but not required.
