Job Title: ESG Training Manager

Department: Sustainability, ESG, Learning & Development, or Corporate Governance

Reports To: Chief Sustainability Officer

Job Summary

The ESG Training Manager is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training programs that build organizational knowledge and capability in Environmental, Social, and Governance practices. The role supports internal teams, leadership, clients, partners, and other stakeholders in understanding ESG principles, sustainability reporting standards, regulatory requirements, climate risk, responsible business practices, and ESG implementation.

The ESG Training Manager will ensure that training content is practical, relevant, up to date, and aligned with applicable ESG frameworks, industry standards, and organizational objectives.


Key Responsibilities

ESG Training Strategy and Program Development

  • Develop and implement an ESG training strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify ESG knowledge gaps across departments, clients, or stakeholder groups.
  • Design training programs for different audience levels, including executives, managers, employees, SMEs, board members, and external partners.
  • Create annual ESG training calendars, learning pathways, and capacity-building plans.

Curriculum and Content Development

  • Develop ESG training materials, manuals, presentations, toolkits, case studies, and assessment guides.
  • Prepare training modules on topics such as:

ü ESG fundamentals

ü Sustainability reporting

ü Climate risk and decarbonization

ü Corporate governance

ü Social impact and human rights

ü Diversity, equity, and inclusion

ü ESG data collection and assurance readiness

ü Regulatory compliance

ü ESG risks and opportunities

  • Ensure all training content reflects current ESG standards and best practices.

Training Delivery and Facilitation

  • Facilitate workshops, webinars, seminars, bootcamps, and executive training sessions.
  • Deliver engaging and practical ESG training using real-world examples and industry-specific case studies.
  • Adapt training methods for in-person, virtual, and hybrid learning environments.
  • Support departments and business units in applying ESG knowledge to their day-to-day work.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with internal teams, clients, consultants, regulators, and subject matter experts to develop relevant training content.
  • Collaborate with HR, compliance, risk, sustainability, and communications teams.
  • Build relationships with professional bodies, training partners, and industry associations.
  • Support client-facing ESG capacity-building engagements where required.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Develop tools to measure training effectiveness, participant learning, and behavior change.
  • Collect feedback from participants and improve training programs accordingly.
  • Prepare reports on training outcomes, participation, impact, and recommendations.
  • Track ESG learning progress and maintain training records.

Research and Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated on ESG trends, sustainability standards, regulations, and reporting frameworks.
  • Monitor developments in frameworks such as GRI, IFRS S1 and S2, SASB, TCFD, TNFD, CSRD, SDGs, and local ESG regulations.
  • Continuously improve training content based on emerging ESG issues and stakeholder needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or professional ESG certification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in ESG, sustainability, corporate governance, compliance, training, consulting, or learning and development.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering professional training programs.
  • Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting, and corporate responsibility practices.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of ESG principles, sustainability reporting, and responsible business practices.
  • Excellent training, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong curriculum design and instructional design capabilities.
  • Ability to simplify complex ESG topics for different audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Good stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple training projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and virtual training platforms.
  • Familiarity with ESG data tools or learning management systems is an advantage.
