Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Fiscal Management

  • Fundraising necessary to support the Organization’s mission
  • Fiscal integrity, including submission to the Board of Directors of annual budgets and financial statements that accurately reflect the organization's financial position
  • Fiscal management that includes operating within approved budgets and ensuring optimum resource utilization
  • Provide monthly income and expenditure accounts as well as quarterly financial statement


Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership to the staff to support and enable the organization to achieve its vision and mission
  • Lead a dynamic and growing team, fostering an environment that stimulates creativity, rewards innovation, promotes collaboration, and facilitates teamwork organizational units
  • Lead the implementation of the organizational approved strategic plan


Responsibilities to Board of Directors

  • Communicate effectively with the Board of Directors and provide in a timely and accurate manner all information required for the Board to make informed decisions
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and the organization's overall visibility


Others

  • Develop and sustain partnerships with professional, civic and private organizations
  • Primary spokesperson to organization partners, the media and the general public
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors


Requirements:

Academic:

  • A Master's degree in any discipline (Preferred)
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the not-for-profit and/or international development sector


Fiscal Management

  • Experience in managing complex, donor-funded programmes in challenging environments
  • Significant fundraising experience
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to take prudent business risks, develop innovative approaches and make effective, timely and well-determined decisions


Leadership

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience at a senior leadership level
  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Team-building skills and an ability to work in a multicultural environment


Others

  • Strong international exposure
  • Proven ability to represent the Foundation to various audiences: civil society, government, donor agencies, and local communities
  • Prior success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence, including funders, partner agencies and volunteers
  • Solid knowledge and good grasp of socio-economic and development issues across the globe
  • Knowledge of the practices of major bilateral and multilateral partner development agencies in African countries or other developing countries
  • Ability to network and build partnerships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Competence in standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint); and other office productivity tools.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of passion and commitment.


Location: Abuja

  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)


Willingness to travel:

  • 25% (Preferred)
