The Waitress is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by welcoming guests, taking food and beverage orders, serving meals promptly, and ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Responsibilities:
- Welcome guests warmly and escort them to their tables where applicable.
- Present menus, explain menu items and daily specials, and make recommendations when requested.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and communicate them promptly to the kitchen or bar.
- Serve food and drinks in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
- Check on guests during their meals to ensure satisfaction and promptly address any concerns.
- Clear tables, remove used dishes, and reset tables for the next guests.
- Prepare dining areas before opening and ensure cleanliness throughout operating hours.
- Process customer payments accurately using cash, POS systems, or other approved payment methods.
- Issue receipts and maintain accurate records of transactions where required.
- Assist in setting up and closing the restaurant or dining area.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and professional appearance.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Work closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Handle customer complaints politely and escalate complex issues to the supervisor or manager.
- Restock service stations with cutlery, napkins, condiments, and other dining essentials.
- Promote menu items, beverages, and special offers to increase sales where appropriate.
- Assist with banquet, catering, or special event service when required.
- Maintain cleanliness of tables, chairs, floors, and service areas.
- Follow all company policies, operational procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Restaurant Manager.
- Minimum of SSCE (Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination) or equivalent.
- Certification in Hospitality, Food Service, or Customer Service is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a Waitress, Server, or in a customer service role.
- Experience in a restaurant, hotel, lounge, café, or hospitality environment is preferred.
- Excellent customer service and hospitality skills.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, polite, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when taking orders.
- Basic numeracy skills for handling bills and payments.
- Ability to operate a Point of Sale (POS) system is an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of food and beverage service procedures.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Good personal hygiene and grooming standards.
- Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods and carry food and beverage trays.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle customer complaints professionally.
- Sales and upselling skills to promote menu items and increase revenue.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.
