Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver veterinary health programmes across breeder, hatchery, and broiler operations, including vaccination schedules, medication protocols, and routine flock inspections.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage disease outbreaks in breeder and broiler flocks, and coordinate post-mortem examinations and laboratory testing to identify causes and recommend corrective action.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor biosecurity protocols across farms and hatcheries to prevent the introduction and spread of disease.
  • Oversee flock health from egg production through hatchery operations to broiler grow-out, ensuring standards for welfare, growth performance, and mortality are met.
  • Advise farm and hatchery teams on nutrition, husbandry, housing, and environmental conditions that impact bird health and productivity.
  • Maintain accurate veterinary records, including treatment logs, mortality data, vaccination records, and disease surveillance reports, in the designated systems.
  • Ensure compliance with animal health regulations, drug withdrawal periods, and food safety standards across all production stages.
  • Train and supervise farm attendants and technicians on animal health practices, biosecurity procedures, and early disease detection.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, government veterinary services, and external laboratories as required.
  • Respond promptly to health emergencies and provide on-call veterinary support during critical periods such as disease outbreaks or high-mortality events.


Requirements:

  • Minimum qualification of a BSC
  • 2 years of previous experience in a similar role
