We seek a skilled Treasury Manager who will be crucial in managing and optimizing our agrifinance balance sheet, foreign exchange exposure, commodity and alternative finance portfolios, and related treasury operations. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of driving sustainable agriculture and alternative financial services in emerging markets.

Purpose of the Role

The Treasury Manager plays a critical role in managing Zowasel’s treasury function, ensuring efficient liquidity management, safeguarding financial assets, and supporting strategic financing initiatives. This role directly contributes to our mission in agrifinance by managing FX positions, customer-related transactions, commodity sales activities, ad hoc financial requirements, and financial resources, including cash flow, investments, and risk management. They oversee cash management and banking relationships and may also be involved in capital markets activities and financing strategies.

Key Responsibilities1. Treasury Operations & Cash Flow Management

• Support the day-to-day treasury function, deputizing for the Senior Treasury Manager as required.
• Ensure efficient placement of funds and manage liquidity across platforms, including commodity and agrifinance portfolios.
• Ensure optimal cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
• Utilise FX Swaps, Repos, and other instruments to optimise cash positions and minimise idle balances.

2. Foreign Exchange & Market Transactions

• Execute foreign exchange, money market, and fixed deposit transactions for customers and Zowasel’s proprietary accounts.
• Monitor FX positions in real-time and ensure adherence to internal risk limits and hedging policies.
• Support clients with currency requirements related to commodity trade and agrifinance products.

3. Liquidity & Balance Sheet Management

• Assist in maintaining internal and regulatory liquidity ratios (LCR, NSFR).
• Monitor daily cash position and short-term liquidity requirements.
• Support the management of the Liquidity Asset Buffer and commodity-linked financial instruments.
• Could you make sure adequate funding is available for operational needs, including cash withdrawals, loans, and asset purchases?

4. Investment & Funding Portfolio Management

• Oversee the management of investment portfolios, including fixed income and commodity-backed instruments.
• Assist in managing diversified funding sources, including retail, institutional, and alternative finance models.
• Work on diversifying liabilities by tenor, instrument, and cost-effectiveness.

5. Risk Management

• Manage interest rate and FX risks using derivatives and hedging tools with the Senior Treasury Manager.
• Identify mismatches in asset-liability maturity and implement corrective strategies.
• Maintain currency exposure within approved risk thresholds.

6. Reporting & Regulatory Compliance

• Prepare and review treasury reports, including Daily Financial Reports, ALM, ALCO, and market risk assessments.
• Maintain up-to-date treasury procedures and documentation in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Provide analysis and recommendations for improving cash and investment positions.
• Coordinate and support both internal and external audits by providing the necessary treasury documentation and responses, while ensuring that operational risk controls are effective and adequate.

7. ALCO & Governance Support

• Act as Secretary to the Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO), including preparation of packs, minutes, and committee coordination.
• Support other sub-committees, including New Product Committees and regulatory working groups (e.g., IBOR transition).

8. Counterparty & Stakeholder Relationships

• Maintain and expand relationships with FX, Money Market, and commodity trading counterparties.
• Support credit applications, KYC processes, and regular reviews for counterparties and liquidity providers.

9. Economic & Market Intelligence

• Produce economic snapshots and analytics for ALCO, senior management, and strategic decision-making.
• Track commodity price trends and FX market developments impacting agrifinance and Zowasel’s operating environment.

Required Qualifications & ExperienceEducation

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, ACT, PRM) are an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a treasury or financial markets role, preferably within a banking or financial institution with at least 3 years in a banking environment or financial institution.
• Strong understanding of FX, money markets, commodity trading, and fixed-income instruments
• Proven experience in cash forecasting, investment planning, and liquidity management
• Experience managing multi-currency cash flows across multiple jurisdictions.
• Ability to advise senior leadership with bank-grade financial insight.
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations (e.g., AML, Basel III, CBN regulations).

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modelling tools.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and reporting skills.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg, Refinitiv/Reuters, and treasury platforms.
