Job Description/Requirements
Now Hiring: Trading Manager (Global Commodity Markets)
Location: Lagos /London, Switzerland, Dubai, or Singapore (Remote/Hybrid)
Company: Sabi
Are you an analytically strong trading professional with deep expertise in managing commodity trading books, risk exposure, and commercial profitability? Do you excel at building trading strategies, overseeing positions, and enabling efficient market execution across global value chains?
Sabi is hiring a Trading Manager to drive the commercial performance of TRACE, our end-to-end traceability and trading platform for critical minerals. This is a high-impact role for a seasoned trader who can navigate global markets, manage complex positions, and execute profitable, responsible trades.
About Sabi
Sabi exists to transform the way the world sources African commodities. We unlock the full potential of African trade by empowering informal merchants with the infrastructure, technology, financing, and services they need to meet global demand.
Through our platforms — TRACE, FLARE, and Katsu — we deliver transparent, traceable, and ESG-aligned supply chains across Africa’s most important mineral value chains.
We’re not a wholesaler, a broker, or a shipper. We’re the technological infrastructure that makes responsible trade possible.
What You’ll Do
- Optimize profitability, hedging strategies, and trade structuring in collaboration with the COO and commercial teams.
- Manage and coordinate daily trading activities across assigned commodities.
- Monitor market trends, pricing, supply–demand dynamics, and geopolitical factors.
- Execute trades and manage positions within approved risk limits.
- Coordinate with operations, finance, and compliance teams for seamless execution and reporting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with counterparties, suppliers, customers, and service providers.
- Provide market intelligence, pricing insights, valuation input, and exposure analysis.
- Support strategic planning through performance reporting and opportunity identification.
- Ensure full adherence to traceability, ESG, and responsible sourcing frameworks governing critical minerals.
What We’re Looking For
- 7–10+ years of experience in commodity trading, risk management, or portfolio management (minerals, metals, or similar).
- Proven track record managing commodity trading books in global markets.
- Strong familiarity with trading systems, risk controls, and logistics.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-evolving environment.
- Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with traceability, ESG compliance, or responsible sourcing (strong advantage).
- Deep understanding of African informal trade dynamics — especially rural mineral sourcing.
- Experience integrating field operations with digital platforms for traceability, QC, and regulatory compliance.
- Executive-level communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s/MBA preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive compensation and benefits
- Health insurance
- Leadership development programs
- Opportunity to shape Africa’s most important commodity infrastructure ecosystem
