Job summary
The Cashier is responsible for accurately processing customer transactions, handling payments, issuing receipts, and providing excellent customer service. The role requires attention to detail, honesty, and professionalism to ensure smooth daily sales operations and proper financial accountability.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Receive and process customer payments via cash, POS, bank transfer, or other approved methods.
- Accurately record all sales transactions and issue receipts to customers.
- Balance the cash drawer and POS transactions at the end of each shift.
- Ensure all payments are properly accounted for and reported to the supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cashier area.
- Provide courteous, friendly, and professional customer service at all times.
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve basic complaints or refer them to a supervisor.
- Report discrepancies, shortages, or suspicious activities immediately.
- Support inventory checks and sales reporting when required.
- Comply with company policies, financial procedures, and security guidelines.
- Minimum of BSc/HND (additional qualifications are an advantage).
- Previous experience as a cashier or in a similar role is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of POS systems and cash handling.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong numerical ability and attention to detail.
- High level of honesty and integrity.
