About HAVORA
HAVORA is redefining and re-engineering the future of modern dating and relationships.
We're building a premium relationship technology platform focused on trust, compatibility, intentionality, and meaningful human connection. Unlike traditional dating apps, HAVORA is designed to help people build lasting relationships through thoughtful product design, evidence-based compatibility, and a world-class user experience.
We're currently building our MVP from the ground up and are looking for a Founding Technical Product Manager who wants to play a pivotal role in shaping the product from idea to launch.
The Role
We're looking for a Technical Product Manager who combines strong product thinking with technical understanding.
You should be comfortable working closely with software engineers, product designers, QA engineers, and researchers while translating business goals into clear technical requirements.
You'll report directly to the Founder and help lead product execution from concept through launch.
This is more than a Product Manager role—it's an opportunity to become one of the founding leaders shaping HAVORA's future.
Responsibilities
Own the product development lifecycle from ideation to MVP launch.
Translate product vision into clear Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Work closely with Engineering to define technical solutions and make informed product decisions.
Collaborate with Product Designers to create intuitive user experiences.
Prioritise the product roadmap and balance user needs with business objectives.
Break down complex problems into clear, actionable product requirements.
Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and product prioritisation.
Ensure alignment between Product, Design, Engineering, QA, and Research.
Monitor product quality throughout development.
Use research and user feedback to continuously improve the product.
Help define HAVORA's long-term product strategy and technical roadmap.
Requirements
Experience managing digital products from idea to launch.
Strong understanding of modern software development processes.
Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and understand technical trade-offs.
Experience writing PRDs, user stories, and product documentation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience working with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
Ability to prioritise features for an MVP.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with ambiguity.
Passion for building products that solve meaningful real-world problems.
Technical Knowledge
A strong understanding of the following is highly desirable:
REST APIs
Mobile application development
System architecture
Databases
Authentication
Cloud platforms
Git/GitHub workflows
Agile development
Product analytics
While you won't be writing production code, you should be technically confident enough to collaborate effectively with engineers and make informed product decisions.
What Success Looks Like
You'll help transform HAVORA's vision into a product that users genuinely love.
You'll ensure product decisions are grounded in user needs, technical feasibility, and long-term scalability.
You'll build strong collaboration across Product, Design, Engineering, QA, and Research while maintaining a clear focus on delivering an exceptional MVP.
Why Join HAVORA?
You'll be joining at the earliest stage of our journey and will have the opportunity to influence the product from the ground up.
You'll work alongside a passionate founding team building one of Africa's most ambitious consumer technology products.
As HAVORA grows and secures funding or investment, founding team members who demonstrate exceptional commitment, ownership, and impact will be prioritised for:
Permanent paid employment
Senior leadership opportunities
Potential long-term incentives, including equity at the Founder's discretion
Compensation
HAVORA is currently a bootstrapped startup.
This is a volunteer founding role and there is currently no salary or stipend.
We're looking for builders who are excited about creating something meaningful and are willing to invest their skills in the early stages of the company.
