The best teacher most of us ever had probably wasn't the strictest, or the cleverest.

They were the one who noticed.

We're looking for two or three of those, for the September term.

A premium primary school in Lagos — Montessori-influenced, British curriculum, working towards international accreditation — is hiring classroom teachers.

Here is the kind of teaching we're built for.

Classes small enough that nobody disappears at the back. A child who is behind in reading is not a statistic here; they are somebody's Tuesday morning, every Tuesday morning, until it clicks.

Teachers who plan their own lessons, because a teacher who didn't design the lesson can't rescue it when it goes sideways.

Curriculum that goes further than the syllabus. Our pupils learn how money works — earning, saving, choosing, the beginnings of enterprise — because we think financial confidence is a childhood skill, not an adult repair job.

And leadership that treats teaching as a profession. You'll be observed and given feedback, because that is what serious schools do. You'll also be listened to, paid properly, and paid on time.

WHAT WE'D WANT FROM YOU

A recognised teaching qualification and primary classroom experience. Montessori or British curriculum background is an advantage. Comfort with technology. Patience that holds on a difficult afternoon. And enough curiosity about how children learn that you're still changing your mind about it.

WHAT WE CAN'T OFFER

A quiet corner. Parents here are involved, standards are high, and the work is visible. That suits some teachers enormously and suits others not at all — and it's better for both of us to be honest about which you are.
