Tattoo Artist

Responsibilities:

• Consult with clients to understand their ideas, preferred style, placement, size, budget, and expectations.
• Create original tattoo concepts, sketches, stencils, and placement options that suit each client.
• Execute clean, precise tattoos across relevant styles, including linework, shading, lettering, colour work, and black-and-grey work, according to demonstrated competence.
• Explain tattoo suitability, pain expectations, healing timelines, risks, and aftercare before beginning any procedure.
• Confirm client identity, age eligibility, informed consent, allergies, medical considerations, and contraindications in line with studio policy.
• Prepare, disinfect, and maintain the tattoo station before and after every appointment.
• Use sterile, single-use needles and consumables; safely handle sharps, contaminated materials, and clinical waste.
• Maintain accurate client consultation, consent, procedure, and aftercare records.
• Monitor clients during procedures and respond calmly to discomfort, fainting, allergic reactions, or other concerns within the limits of training.
• Photograph completed work professionally, with client consent, to support the studio portfolio and marketing.
• Manage bookings, punctuality, touch-up appointments, stock needs, and daily workspace readiness.
• Protect client privacy and contribute to a welcoming, respectful, and judgement-free experience.

Requirements:

• Proven professional tattooing experience and a strong, verifiable portfolio of healed and fresh work.
• Strong drawing, composition, colour, linework, and stencil-placement skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of infection prevention, cross-contamination control, sterilisation, and safe sharps disposal.
• Training or certification in blood-borne pathogen safety, infection control, first aid, or a related area is strongly preferred.
• Ability to recognise situations that require declining or postponing a procedure and referring the client for medical guidance.
• Excellent communication, patience, attention to detail, and client-service skills.
• Ability to maintain a clean workstation and follow all applicable health, safety, and licensing requirements.
• Availability to work scheduled hours, including peak periods or weekends where required.
