Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
- Teach students using engaging, student-centred, and inquiry-based learning methods.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners with different abilities.
- Promote scientific investigation through practical laboratory activities.
- Integrate technology and digital resources into classroom teaching.
- Encourage creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation.
- Deliver the approved British and Nigerian science curriculum.
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations.
- Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, assessments, and instructional materials.
- Keep accurate records of students' academic progress.
- Prepare and mark classwork, assignments, projects, practical reports, and examinations.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Analyse assessment data to improve student achievement.
- Prepare academic reports and communicate students' progress to parents.
- Maintain a safe and well-organised science laboratory.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of laboratory chemicals and equipment.
- Enforce laboratory safety rules at all times.
- Conduct regular inventory checks of laboratory materials and equipment.
- Serve as a class teacher or form tutor when assigned.
- Support students' academic, emotional, and social development.
- Encourage participation in science clubs, competitions, exhibitions, and STEAM activities.
- Foster discipline, respect, and positive behaviour.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, workshops, and professional development programmes.
- Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and educational trips.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and school leadership.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the school's policies and professional ethics.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science Education, or a related field.
- Teaching qualification (PGDE, TRCN registration, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2–3 years' teaching experience in a secondary school.
- Experience with the British Curriculum (Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel, or equivalent) is desirable.
- Strong subject knowledge.
