Job summary
The School Finance Manager plays a pivotal role within the Business Office by supporting the School Director and Head of School in ensuring financial integrity, accountability, and efficiency across all financial operations. This role demands a high level of analytical skill, attention to detail, and leadership in driving financial performance.

Responsibilities:
Financial Management and Development:
- Oversee daily financial operations including general ledger maintenance, accounts
- payable, and accounts receivable.
- Maintain robust internal controls and ensure compliance with financial regulations and
- school policies.
- Prepare and present Annual Financial Statements (AFS), ensuring accuracy and
- completeness.
- Liaise with external auditors during interim and final audits.
- Prepare and manage the Annual Budget, collaborating with Department Heads to gather
- input and ensure timely submissions.
- Provide monthly and quarterly management reports including financial statements,
- expenditure analysis, and variance reports.
- Track budget performance, highlight variances, and recommend corrective measures.
- Advise the School Director on risks, financial irregularities, or inefficiencies.
Debtor and Fee Management:
- Oversee all tuition and fee collections, payment reconciliations, and deposit processing.
- Administer debtor records, manage arrears, and enforce credit control policies.
- Generate and distribute termly fee statements and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Collaborate with the Finance Officer to apply penalties for late payments and maintain
- transparent communication with families regarding fee obligations.
General Ledger and Payroll:
- Maintain accurate general ledger reconciliations monthly.
- Process bank reconciliations and ensure approval by the School Director.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, payroll postings, and statutory deductions.
- Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and employee benefit remittances.
- Maintain and audit the School Asset Register, tracking acquisitions, disposals, and asset
- conditions.
Administration and Compliance:
- Ensure all statutory filings, tax returns, pension, and PAYE remittances are made
- promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure data integrity within
- the School Administration and Accounting Software (Zoho Books or equivalent).
- Review and approve purchase orders, ensuring adherence to procurement procedures.
- Complete all financial documentation, regulatory submissions, and compliance reports on
- time.
- Continuously review and recommend improvements in financial systems and workflows
- for efficiency.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Supervise finance team members, ensuring high standards of performance and
- accountability.
- Support non-finance staff in understanding and managing budgets effectively.
- Provide financial insights to support strategic planning, fee reviews, and capital
- expenditure decisions.
- Foster a culture of transparency, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the
- finance department.
Requirements:
- Minimum qualification of BSC
- 4 years of previous experience in a similar role
