Position Overview

The Sales / Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business growth by identifying new opportunities, expanding client relationships, and leading the company’s sales strategy across EPC, oilfield services, and technical solutions.

The role requires strong commercial acumen, deep knowledge of the oil & gas and energy industries, and the ability to convert market intelligence into sustainable revenue streams. This position balances client engagement, contract negotiations, and bid/tender management, while building and leading a high-performance sales team that aligns with company’s long-term growth objectives.

This position is based out of the Port Harcourt office with some travel required.

1.     Commercial Strategy & Market Development

·        Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with Company’s corporate objectives.

·        Identify, assess, and prioritize new market opportunities across EPC, rotating equipment, oilfield chemicals, and technical services.

·        Conduct competitor analysis and market research to guide commercial positioning.

·        Drive growth through structured account management and client expansion plans.


2.     Client & Stakeholder Engagement

·        Build and sustain long-term, trust-based relationships with new and existing clients.

·        Serve as the primary client-facing representative for business negotiations.

·        Deliver risk-based commercial solutions that align client needs with Company’s service capabilities.

·        Represent Company at industry events, exhibitions, and conferences to expand visibility and networks.


3.     Bids, Proposals & Tendering

·        Lead and oversee the bid and tendering process, ensuring submissions are accurate, competitive, and compliant.

·        Review and approve proposals, commercial documents, and pricing models.

·        Collaborate with technical and operations teams to ensure feasibility and value-added solutions in bids.

·        Track success rate of tenders and continuously improve bid quality and win ratio.


4.     Sales Operations & Reporting

·        Manage sales pipeline, forecasting, and reporting using Zoho CRM with strict compliance.

·        Set revenue targets, monitor progress, and report performance metrics to the COO/MD.

·        Ensure effective utilization of CRM data for decision-making, client engagement, and pipeline management.

·        Drive accountability for quarterly and annual sales results.


5.     Team Leadership & Development

·        Build, lead, and mentor a high-performance sales and business development team.

·        Define sales targets, allocate workloads, and provide ongoing coaching.

·        Promote continuous learning in oil & gas sector trends, commercial excellence, and client engagement.

·        Foster a performance-driven culture with focus on results, innovation, and client satisfaction.

 

Competency and Skill Requirement

·        Strong commercial acumen with proven track record in oil & gas business development.

·        Deep knowledge of EPC, field services, rotating equipment, and oilfield solutions.

·        Expertise in bid/tender management, contract negotiations, and deal structuring.

·        Proficiency in CRM systems (Zoho CRM required) and sales analytics tools.

·        Strong leadership, mentoring, and people management skills.

·        Excellent networking, relationship management, and client engagement abilities.

·        Superior communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

·        High integrity, professionalism, and results orientation.


Qualifications & Experience

·        Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).

·        8–12 years’ experience in sales/business development in the oil & gas or energy sector.

·        Minimum 3–5 years in a managerial or senior sales leadership role.

·        Demonstrated success in delivering multi-million-dollar contracts and expanding client portfolios.

·        Professional certifications in Business Development, Sales Leadership, or Project Management are a plus.
