About the Role (Volunteer Opportunity)
💡 Please Note: This is a volunteer (unpaid) position. It is ideal for a dedicated social worker or social science professional looking to drive meaningful social change, gain hands-on non-profit governance experience, and protect the rights and welfare of young girls.
As the Safeguarding & Child Protection Officer, you will serve as the organizational anchor for safety, ethical compliance, and participant welfare. You will oversee safeguarding protocols across all our cohort activities, events, and mentorship pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Enforcement & Compliance: Implement, regularly review, and enforce our child protection and safeguarding frameworks across all initiative operations.
Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments for all cohort programs, workshops, and outreach activities involving girls aged 6–18.
Incident Management: Serve as the primary, confidential point of contact for any child welfare concerns, safety breaches, or reports, ensuring swift action according to established protocols.
Capacity Building: Facilitate mandatory safeguarding orientations and safety briefings for newly onboarded staff, mentors, volunteers, and project leads.
Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain accurate, confidential records of all safeguarding assessments and present periodic welfare updates to leadership.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Sociology, Psychology, or a closely related field.
Knowledge: Sound understanding of child rights, safeguarding principles, social work ethics, and protection frameworks.
Soft Skills: Exceptional emotional intelligence, discretion, active listening, critical thinking, and crisis response capability.
Commitment: Ability to dedicate 5-10 hours to virtual meetings, cohort reviews, and program oversight.
