Job summary

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for providing accurate cost and commercial support across JBEC Aluminium's projects. The role will involve cost estimation, quantity take-offs, budgeting, tender preparation, material costing, procurement support, project cost monitoring, and commercial reporting.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates and material take-offs.
  • Review drawings, specifications and project requirements to determine quantities and costs.
  • Prepare and evaluate quotations, tenders and project pricing.
  • Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Support procurement by providing accurate quantities and cost information.
  • Obtain and compare supplier/subcontractor quotations.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Track variations, additional works and changes in project scope.
  • Assist with project valuations, payment certificates and commercial documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of project costs and financial commitments.
  • Conduct site visits and verify completed works and quantities where required.
  • Work with project teams to identify potential cost overruns and commercial risks.
  • Prepare regular cost and commercial reports for management.
  • Support contract administration and commercial negotiations where required.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of an HND in Quantity Surveying.
  • Strong understanding of construction costing and measurement.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering drawings.
  • Good knowledge of BOQ preparation and quantity take-offs.
  • Strong Excel and numerical analysis skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with suppliers, contractors, and project teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
  • Experience with aluminium, roofing, windows, doors, or building-material projects is an advantage.
