Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quantity Surveyor to join a reputable building and construction firm based in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project costs, preparing estimates, monitoring budgets, and ensuring that construction projects are delivered within approved financial frameworks. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, sound knowledge of construction processes, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and project budgets
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for proposed construction projects
- Monitor project expenditures and ensure effective cost control throughout the lifecycle
- Prepare tender and contract documents, including BOQs
- Evaluate contractor bids and provide recommendations for selection
- Track variations, claims, and change orders during project execution
- Measure and value completed work for interim and final payments
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure cost compliance
- Prepare financial reports, cost forecasts, and project updates for management
- Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers on cost-related matters
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and construction regulations
- Support procurement planning and material cost evaluation
- Maintain accurate documentation of project costs and financial records
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
Experience
- Minimum of 2 – 3 years' relevant experience in quantity surveying within the building construction industry
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of:
- Construction cost management
- Contract administration
- Procurement processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
- Familiarity with quantity surveying and cost estimation software is an added advantage
- Good understanding of construction drawings and specifications
Core Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective negotiation and communication abilities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Professional Membership (Advantage)
- Membership or progress toward certification with:
- Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS)
- Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN)
