Job Summary
Gelose Marine Services is seeking a proactive and experienced Quality Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Officer to join our team. This role is vital in ensuring compliance with safety regulations across our vessels, fleets, assets, and jetty while upholding the highest industry and regulatory standards.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with safety regulations across all operations.
- Maintain and monitor safety equipment inventory.
- Support the implementation and compliance of the Vessel Safety Management System (SMS).
- Ensure adherence to ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 18788).
- Assist in developing and improving QHSE procedures and policies.
- Conduct risk assessments, and job hazard analyses, and implement preventive control measures.
- Lead safety induction programs and toolbox talks for employees and contractors.
- Oversee proper usage and compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Monitor and manage permit-to-work (PTW) systems.
- Support external audits, regulatory inspections, and third-party verifications.
- Ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations, including ISM Code, SOLAS, and NIMASA requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Marine Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
- 3–5 years in a QHSE role within the marine, oil & gas, or offshore industry.
- HSE Level 1, 2 & 3 and/or NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) in OHS.
Additional Training (Preferred):
- Lead Auditor Certification in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001.
- Membership in professional bodies such as ISPON, IOSH, IIRSM, NISE.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of vessel safety management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in challenging marine and industrial environments.
Work Environment:
- Combination of office and field-based work.
- Regular visits to vessels and jetties.
- Exposure to marine and industrial settings.
Remuneration: NGN 200,000 - 300,000
