Public Health Microbiologist
Job summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detailed-oriented Public Health Microbiologist to join our team to protect and improve community health. In this role, you will analyze clinical and environmental samples to identify, detect, and contain pathogenic microorganisms, contributing to outbreak investigations and infectious disease surveillance.

Responsibilities:
- Perform complex microbiological tests (e.g., PCR, cultures) on clinical, environmental, and food samples to detect bacteria, viruses, and pathogens.
- Collaborate with epidemiologists to investigate disease outbreaks, identify vectors, and implement control measures.
- Monitor antimicrobial resistance and track the spread of infectious diseases in the community.
- Document results, validate data, and prepare reports according to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Develop and validate new laboratory testing procedures and maintain/calibrate
- Bachelor’s Degree/ Master’s Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Epidemiology, Medical Technology or any related field with previous public health or clinical lab experience.
- A Public Health Microbiologist Certificate.
- Proficient in molecular diagnostics, microscopy, aseptic techniques, and laboratory information systems (LIS).
- High attention to detail, strong critical thinking, strong analytics skills and excellent communication.
