Position Summary
We are seeking an energetic and purpose-driven Program Officer to support the Foundation's environmental, climate, conservation, blue economy, and community development initiatives.
The successful candidate will play a key role in project development, research, stakeholder engagement, grant mobilization, communications, partnerships, events management, and program implementation while helping expand the Foundation's visibility, impact, and influence across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of climate, conservation, and sustainable development programs.
- Coordinate environmental research, policy reviews, technical studies, and knowledge products.
- Identify grant opportunities and support proposal development, fundraising, and donor engagement activities.
- Produce articles, reports, policy briefs, newsletters, and other thought leadership content.
- Manage digital communications, public awareness campaigns, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Coordinate workshops, conferences, webinars, community consultations, and environmental outreach programs.
- Support partnerships with governments, NGOs, development agencies, academic institutions, private sector organizations, and community groups.
- Assist in project monitoring, impact measurement, and SDG reporting activities.
- Represent the Foundation at meetings, conferences, public events, and stakeholder engagements.
- Support the development of new environmental, conservation, and nature-based livelihood initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Geography, Sustainability, Natural Resource Management, Marine Sciences, Development Studies, Sociology, Marine Science, Environmental Management, or related disciplines.
- Minimum of 3–5 years relevant experience.
- Demonstrated interest and practical exposure to climate action, conservation, environmental sustainability, community development, or nature-based solutions.
- Strong research, writing, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
- Experience supporting grants, donor-funded projects, environmental programs, or development initiatives is desirable.
- Strong presentation, social media, and digital communication capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
