Roles and Responsibilities
§ Track and research critical developments in the extractives sector, including energy policies, institutions and regulations governing oil and gas, gas-to-power, upstream gas, petroleum host communities, mining solid minerals, hydropower, and climate change and the environment as they relate to extractive industries.
§ Analyze and provide recommendations for the country’s extractive industry (EI) policies, laws, and regulations and their impact on poverty reduction, governance, equity, and social and environmental conditions in host communities.
§ Undertake desk study research, including field-based studies on various extractive initiatives, and present research information to lay, technical, internal and external audiences to influence policy reform.
§ Facilitate advocacy engagements with relevant public and private stakeholders, relevant government ministries and support dialogue between host communities and petroleum and mining companies.
§ Identify opportunities for periodic collaborations among government, private sector, development partners, media and universities to ensure progressive dialogue between relevant stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial solutions.
§ Incorporate gender perspectives and ensuring the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work.
