Job descriptions & requirements

Company Description

Nigeria does not have a student problem. It has a diagnosis problem.

In 2025, 62% of Nigerian WAEC candidates failed — the worst result in a decade. Not because they are unintelligent, but because no tool has ever identified the exact concept blocking each student, traced it to its root, and fixed it.

MyBrainBud is building that tool.

We are an AI-powered curriculum intelligence platform for Nigerian secondary school students, mapping knowledge gaps, diagnosing root causes, and teaching through a Socratic AI tutor that helps students genuinely understand, not just memorise.

We are pre-launch and building fast. This internship is not a simulation. Everything you produce will go directly into a real product, preparing for deployment in real schools.

The Role:

You will own a specific deliverable every month for six months. Not support the team.  Not shadow the PM. A real output that is reviewed, challenged, and used.

This is a high-ownership role. In many cases, nobody will assign work to you step-by-step. We expect you to identify issues, ask questions, investigate problems, and bring opportunities forward independently.

Example deliverables may include:

  • Conducting and synthesising student interviews
  • Creating research briefs and opportunity assessments
  • Mapping curriculum-learning challenges
  • Analysing product usage and diagnostic insights
  • Writing product requirements and recommendations
  • Leading discovery work for a potential feature improvement

What You Get

  • Real portfolio work research, briefs, flows, and metrics that go into a real product, with your name on them.
  • Weekly product reviews and mentorship from a Product Manager working at the intersection of AI and Nigerian education.
  • A written performance assessment at the end of six months, usable in future job applications.
  • Direct exposure to an early-stage startup preparing to enter Nigerian schools.
  • A formal pathway to a paid Junior Product Manager role for interns who meet the criteria outlined below.

Who We Want

We care less about previous PM experience and more about curiosity, ownership, and clear thinking.

We are looking for someone who can commit at least 20 genuine hours per week and who:

Thinks in problems, not solutions.

  • Writes clearly and specifically — no filler, no vague statements.
  • Takes initiative instead of waiting for instructions.
  • Cares deeply about educational outcomes in Nigeria.
  • Has either experienced the challenges of WAEC preparation personally or has seen someone close struggle with them.

We are not looking for people who have memorised product frameworks. We are looking for people who want to solve meaningful problems and create measurable impact.

Path to a Paid Junior PM Role

To receive a paid Junior Product Manager offer at the end of Month 6, you must do the following:

  • Deliver agreed outputs on time and to the expected standard.
  • Conduct at least three user interviews independently — planned, executed, and documented without coaching.
  • Produce briefs or documents that are used in actual product decisions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently identify a user problem, frame it as a product opportunity, and propose a measurable solution.

How to Apply

Submit your CV and answer the question below

You are a Nigerian SS3 student. You studied hard for WAEC Mathematics for three months. You fail. What went wrong, and what would a product that actually fixed this look like?

Email your response and CV to mybrainbud1@gmail.com.
