Job Summary

The Political Scientist will conduct in-depth research, analyze political systems, policies, and trends, and provide insights that inform decision-making processes. This role requires a strong understanding of political theory, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to diverse audiences.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct comprehensive research on political systems, governmental policies, and international relations.
  • Analyze political data and trends to provide actionable insights.
  • Develop and test theories using quantitative and qualitative methods.


Report Writing:

  • Prepare detailed reports, policy briefs, and academic papers based on research findings
  • Present research findings to stakeholders, including government officials, academic audiences, and the public.


Policy Development:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and propose recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist in the development of new policies and legislative initiatives.


Consultation and Advising:

  • Provide expert advice to policymakers, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
  • Participate in advisory panels, committees, and public forums.


Data Management:

  • Collect, organize, and manage large datasets relevant to political research.
  • Utilize statistical software and tools to analyze and interpret data.


Collaboration

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including economists, sociologists, and other social scientists.
  • Engage with external partners and stakeholders to enhance research impact.


Requirements:

  • BSC, Ph.D. or Master's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, or a related field.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in political research, policy analysis, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of published research and/or policy work.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R).
  • Ability to present complex information in an accessible manner.

Work Mode: Hybrid


Remuneration: NGN 100,000 - 150,000(gross)
