Job summary
The Physiotherapist (Consultant / Program Physiotherapist) will provide specialized physiotherapy services for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, support the development of rehabilitation programs, and contribute to community-based interventions aimed at improving mobility, balance, functional independence, and overall well-being of beneficiaries.

Responsibilities:
Clinical Care & Rehabilitation
- Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease.
- Develop and implement individualized and group physiotherapy treatment plans.
- Provide evidence-based interventions focusing on mobility, gait, balance, posture, strength, and fall prevention.
- Support patients across different stages of Parkinson’s disease.
- Monitor progress, document outcomes, and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
Program
Development & Implementation:
- Support the design and delivery of Parkinson’s-specific exercise and rehabilitation programs.
- Contribute to adapted physical activity initiatives (e.g., walking football, group exercise sessions).
- Assist in developing physiotherapy manuals, guidelines, and protocols for the foundation.
- Support community outreach and mobile rehabilitation programs where applicable.
Training
& Capacity Building:
- Educate caregivers and family members on safe mobility, exercises, and home-based care.
- Provide basic training or orientation for volunteers and support staff involved in rehabilitation programs.
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and awareness events organized by the foundation.
Collaboration
& Reporting:
- Work collaboratively with neurologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute technical input to reports, proposals, and donor-funded projects related to rehabilitation.
- Maintain professional records and submit periodic activity and impact reports.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy (B.Sc. / BPT); Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Full registration with the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board of Nigeria (MRTB).
- Minimum of 2–5 years post-qualification experience, preferably in neurological or geriatric rehabilitation.
- Experience working with Parkinson’s disease or other neurological conditions is strongly preferred.
- Experience in nonprofit, community health, or outreach programs is an added advantage.
Skills

- Strong understanding of Parkinson’s disease and neuro-rehabilitation principles.
- Excellent patient communication and caregiver engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Cultural sensitivity and empathy when working with vulnerable populations.
- Good documentation, reporting, and basic digital skills.
- Willingness to adapt therapy approaches to low-resource settings.
