Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate petroleum laboratory operations across midstream gas, refined petroleum products, and product certification testing.
- Oversee sample receipt, chain of custody, testing, data review, and report authorization to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of results.
- Maintain and continually improve the laboratory's ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Supervise quality assurance and quality control activities, including method validation, measurement uncertainty, proficiency testing, and internal audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and industry best practices.
- Manage laboratory instrumentation, calibration schedules, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment performance.
- Oversee laboratory budgeting, procurement, inventory management, and resource planning.
- Supervise field sampling activities and ensure proper chain of custody and sample integrity.
- Build, mentor, and manage laboratory personnel while driving competence development and performance management.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies, accreditation bodies, vendors, and internal stakeholders on technical and quality matters.
- Support business development initiatives by providing technical input on proposals, laboratory capabilities, and service delivery.
- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and promote a strong safety culture within the laboratory.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in a midstream or refined petroleum products laboratory, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience in upstream oil and gas is required.
- Strong knowledge of ASTM, IP, ISO, GPA, UOP, and EN analytical test methods for petroleum products and gas analysis.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
- Qualified Internal Auditor certification is required.
- Hands-on experience with petroleum laboratory instrumentation, including gas chromatography, sulphur analyzers, ICP-OES, Karl Fischer titrators, distillation units, flash point testers, viscometers, density analyzers, and related laboratory equipment.
- Proven expertise in laboratory quality assurance, method validation, proficiency testing, measurement uncertainty, and data integrity.
- Strong knowledge of petroleum laboratory regulatory requirements and experience working with accreditation and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong project management, budgeting, documentation, and team development capabilities.
