Reports to: Global Operations Manager
🌍 Role Overview The Operational Excellence Director & Trainer leads the design, delivery, and governance of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives across Afribiotech and partner organisations. This role ensures that all operational excellence programs deliver measurable impact, strengthen healthcare systems, and align with Afribiotech’s mission to transform healthcare across Africa. The role combines strategic leadership, technical expertise, and hands‑on training delivery. It requires deep knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, strong facilitation skills, and the ability to guide organisations through complex improvement journeys.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
1. Lean Six Sigma Program Design & Training
● Develop and refine Lean Six Sigma frameworks tailored to African healthcare environments.
● Design tools, templates, case studies, and methodologies for improvement projects.
● Deliver Yellow, Green, and Black Belt training programs.
● Ensure training content remains current, practical, and aligned with global standards.
● Integrate Lean Six Sigma principles into Afribiotech’s broader training portfolio.
2. Continuous Improvement Project Leadership
● Lead or supervise improvement projects within Afribiotech and client organisations.
● Mentor project teams, providing technical guidance and coaching.
● Ensure projects deliver measurable outcomes in cost reduction, quality improvement, patient experience, and operational efficiency.
● Support clients in establishing internal continuous improvement structures and governance.
3. Process Optimisation & Systems Improvement
● Analyse operational workflows to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
● Recommend and implement process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and data‑driven methods.
● Support digital transformation initiatives that enhance operational performance.
● Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best‑practice process maps.
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance
● Establish quality standards for training, consulting, and internal operations.
● Conduct audits, performance reviews, and quality assessments.
● Ensure compliance with regulatory, industry, and certification standards.
● Monitor delivery quality across regions and recommend corrective actions.
5. Strategic Advisory & Thought Leadership
● Provide expert guidance to healthcare leaders on operational excellence strategy.
● Contribute to Afribiotech’s knowledge base through research, publications, and insights.
● Represent Afribiotech at conferences, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
● Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals and client solutions.
🧠 Skills & Competencies
● Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt (required)
● Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and data‑interpretation skills
● Proven experience leading improvement projects in healthcare
● Excellent facilitation, coaching, and training delivery skills
● Ability to design frameworks, tools, and methodologies
● Strong communication and stakeholder‑management abilities
● Ability to work across diverse African healthcare systems
● Strategic thinker with hands‑on execution capability
Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of Operations Management and proven ability to optimize processes
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify improvement opportunities
- Experience in Team Management, leadership, and fostering collaboration
- Proficiency in Budgeting and resource planning to ensure operational efficiency
- Excellent Customer Service skills for delivering enhanced client experiences
- Certification or experience in Lean Six Sigma methodologies (e.g., Black Belt, Green Belt) is highly desirable
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, especially in training environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Operations, or a related field; advanced degree is an advantage
