Nursery school teacher

Responsibilities:

Classroom & Learning:

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities: phonics, number work, arts & crafts, music, rhymes, story time
• Follow the school’s Early Years curriculum - Nigerian / British EYFS / Montessori
• Prepare weekly lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching aids
• Set up learning centers: reading corner, role-play area, sensory area

Child Care & Development:

• Ensure the safety, health, and wellbeing of all children at all times
• Help with feeding, toileting, naptime, and hygiene routines
• Observe each child and support their social, emotional, and motor skill development
• Handle separation anxiety and help children adjust to school

Classroom Management:

• Maintain a clean, organized, and colorful classroom
• Use positive discipline and guide behavior appropriately
• Supervise children during playtime, assembly, and outdoor activities

Records & Communication:

• Take daily attendance and keep records of accidents, feeding, and activities
• Assess children through observation and keep a portfolio of their work
• Prepare termly report cards and communicate daily with parents
• Attend parent-teacher meetings and PTA events

School Duties:

• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, concerts, and graduation planning
• Collaborate with assistants/aides in the classroom
• Ensure all learning materials and toys are properly used and stored

Requirements:

• A minimum of NCE
• A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a nursery/pre-school setting preferred
• Love for children, patience, and nurturing personality
• Creativity and energy for songs, games, and activities
• Good communication with children and parents
