Mobile App Engineer (Intern) — React Native

About the Role

We are building a next-generation logistics and on-demand errand mobile application with real-time tracking, secure payments, and seamless communication. We are looking for a passionate and driven Mobile App Engineer Intern specialising in React Native to support the development of our mobile application and gain hands-on experience in a real production environment.

This is a learning-first role, you will work directly alongside our engineering team, contribute to live features, and grow your skills across the full mobile development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Support mobile app development using React Native and Expo
• Build, debug, and test features using Expo Go and Expo Dev
• Assist with implementing real-time map tracking using GPS APIs and mapping SDKs (Google Maps or Mapbox)
• Learn and contribute to in-app payment flows and wallet features
• Support integration of in-app chat and calling functionality (WebRTC or third-party platforms such as Twilio or Zegocloud)
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate REST APIs built with NestJS
• Write and query data using PostgreSQL
• Participate in AWS deployments and gain exposure to cloud infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch)
• Work closely with UI/UX, Product, and QA teams to deliver polished mobile experiences
• Learn best engineering practices through code reviews, testing, and team collaboration

What We Are Looking For

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Basic understanding of React Native, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• Familiarity with mobile development concepts — Expo experience is a plus
• Eagerness to learn real-time features such as maps, geolocation, and WebSockets
• Basic awareness of REST APIs and how frontend and backend systems communicate
• Any exposure to PostgreSQL or relational databases is an advantage
• Curiosity about cloud platforms — AWS knowledge is not required but is a bonus
• Strong problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to ask questions
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid, fast-paced startup environment

Nice to Have

• Personal or university projects involving React Native or mobile apps
• Any experience with NestJS or Node.js backend services
• Prior exposure to Git and version control workflows
• Interest in logistics, mobility, or real-time communication applications

• Monthly stipend: ₦150,000 – ₦250,000 (based on experience and skills)
