Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Collect, prepare, and analyze microbiological samples (water, food, pharmaceutical, clinical, or environmental, as applicable)
- Perform microbial identification, culturing, staining, and sensitivity testing
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and cleanliness
- Record, interpret, and report test results accurately and promptly
- Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards (e.g., NAFDAC, SON, ISO)
- Prepare reagents, media, and maintain a stock of laboratory consumables
- Support research, product development, or quality assurance activities as required
- Maintain proper documentation and laboratory records
Requirements:
- B.Sc./HND in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or related field (M.Sc. is an added advantage)
- 1-3 years relevant laboratory experience
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques, microbial analysis, and lab safety protocols
- Familiarity with standard lab equipment (microscope, autoclave, incubator, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and record-keeping ability.
- Good communication and teamwork skills
