Medical Laboratory Scientists

Responsibilities:

• Consulting with patients and other service users to ensure the most appropriate laboratory investigations are advised and undertaken diligently.
• Processing/investigations of clinical samples for accurate diagnosis of diseases, using the most appropriate laboratory procedures.
• Reporting and issuing reports to service users, appropriately and accurately, on time.
• Performing routine internal and external quality controls of laboratory reagents, kits, equipment, etc
• Participating in preparing appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other relevant service-related documentation.
• Supervising or directly involved in troubleshooting and appropriate maintenance of equipment, ensuring optimal performance
• Supervising or directly involved in the preparation of laboratory reagents (where needed and necessary), under the strict supervision of the Laboratory Director.
• Supervising other Junior laboratory staff to ensure competency, efficiency, and personal development, to guarantee career progress and quality of laboratory services.
• Other duties as appropriate to your positions or as determined by the organisation.

Requirements:

• Minimum of BMLS (or equivalent) and must possess a 2026 professional practice license issued by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN). Possession of 2025 licence is acceptable, pending renewal of 2026.
• The ability to practice in a multidisciplinary medical laboratory, both independently and within a team, is required.
• Leadership quality and the capability to supervise junior staff, working as an essential team player to strengthen the laboratory team, is highly desirable while accountable to the Directors/Managers.
• Must be of good character, an honest person, friendly, and a good communicator, who can guarantee efficient communication with patients and other service users.

Temporal Accommodation:

• Temporal accommodations are available for short stays and for staff wishing to occasionally sleep over, to reduce the cost of transportation.
• Please note that these are not permanent accommodations, as every staff member is entitled to use them, especially for on-duty related facilities.

Accountable to: You are accountable to the entire management, including the Finance Manager/Auditor, Business Development Manager, and Operational Officer
