Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, assignments, tests, and examinations.
- Explain mathematical concepts clearly using appropriate teaching methods and practical examples.
- Adapt teaching techniques to accommodate different learning abilities and styles.
- Encourage students to develop logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Student Academic Development
- Assess students' understanding and monitor their academic progress.
- Identify students who require additional support and provide appropriate interventions.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to improve their academic performance.
- Encourage students to develop confidence and interest in Mathematics.
- Support students preparing for relevant internal and external examinations.
Classroom Management
- Maintain a disciplined, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
- Establish clear expectations for student behaviour and academic participation.
- Promote punctuality, responsibility, teamwork, and respect among students.
- Ensure effective use of classroom time and learning resources.
Assessment & Reporting
- Set and mark classwork, assignments, tests, and examinations.
- Maintain accurate records of students' academic performance.
- Prepare student progress reports as required.
- Use assessment results to identify learning gaps and improve teaching strategies.
Examination Preparation
- Prepare students for relevant examinations and standardized assessments.
- Provide revision sessions, practice questions, and examination techniques.
- Monitor students' performance and develop targeted improvement plans.
- Keep up to date with relevant Mathematics and Further Mathematics curricula and examination requirements.
Collaboration & Professional Development
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, school management, parents, and relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in staff meetings, academic planning, school activities, and professional development programmes.
- Contribute ideas that improve teaching quality and students' academic outcomes.
- Maintain professional conduct and uphold the school's educational standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education, or a related field.
- Relevant teaching qualification such as NCE, PGDE, TRCN certification, or equivalent will be an advantage.
- Previous teaching experience in a secondary school environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Mathematics and Further Mathematics curricula.
- Experience preparing students for WAEC, NECO, JAMB, or other relevant examinations is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong classroom management abilities.
- Good computer literacy and ability to use technology to support teaching and learning.
- Passion for teaching and commitment to students' academic development.
