Accountant

Responsibilities:

• Record, classify, and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Process staff payroll, pensions, statutory deductions, and other employee-related payments.
• Prepare and reconcile bank statements and cash accounts regularly.
• Monitor company cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity for business operations.
• Prepare budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analyses.
• Ensure timely filing and payment of taxes, VAT, PAYE, pensions, and other statutory obligations.
• Maintain the company's general ledger and ensure all accounting entries are accurate.
• Conduct periodic financial reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Monitor expenses and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
• Maintain proper financial documentation and filing systems.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing the required financial records and reports.
• Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Prepare invoices, payment schedules, receipts, and other financial documents.
• Monitor inventory valuation and fixed asset registers where applicable.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management for strategic decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with banks, auditors, tax authorities, and other regulatory agencies when required.
• Assist in developing financial policies and improving accounting processes.
• Perform any other finance or accounting duties assigned by management.

Requirements:

• Minimum of an HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or equivalent is an added advantage (or may be required depending on the role).
• Minimum of 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in preparing financial reports, tax compliance, payroll administration, and financial analysis.
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho Books, Tally, SAP, Oracle, or ERP systems is an added advantage.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent bookkeeping and financial record-keeping skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and financial reporting skills.
• Knowledge of tax laws, VAT, PAYE, pensions, and statutory compliance requirements.
• Ability to prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
