Job summary

SBTS Group Nigeria seeks a hands-on Legal & Compliance Manager for its technology, cybersecurity, professional-services and workforce-development operations. The role advises management, manages contracts and corporate compliance, supports employment and investigation matters, and coordinates external counsel on specialist matters.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review and negotiate client, vendor, consultant, contractor, partnership, employment, participant, NDA and other legal agreements.
  • Advise management on corporate, contractual, regulatory, employment and business-risk matters.
  • Manage corporate governance, statutory filings, compliance calendars and company-secretarial requirements.
  • Develop and strengthen legal/compliance policies, SOPs, templates, approval processes and controls.
  • Partner with HR on employment agreements, labour-law matters, complex disciplinary/termination matters and workplace investigations.
  • Provide legal and compliance support to company programs and operations, including participant agreements, conduct, confidentiality and related matters.
  • Advise on data protection, privacy, intellectual property, confidentiality and access to sensitive information.
  • Conduct or support investigations involving fraud, misconduct, conflicts of interest and other significant compliance matters.
  • Review legal requirements associated with new programs, partnerships, vendors and business expansion.
  • Recommend, instruct and manage external counsel when specialist expertise or representation is required, evaluate advice received, and translate it into practical recommendations for management.
  • Support dispute resolution, claims and litigation as required.


Requirements:

  • LL.B and B.L; qualified to practice law in Nigeria.
  • 5 years of relevant post-call experience in corporate/commercial law, in-house legal, compliance, governance, employment law or related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and advising management.
  • Working knowledge of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020, the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, the Labour Act and related regulatory requirements.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Sound judgment, integrity, discretion and ability to work independently in a growing organization.
