Lead Quantity Surveyor – Contracts Assurance
Location: Project Site / Client Office
Reporting To: Project Director / Contracts Assurance Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Quantity Surveyor – Contracts Assurance to provide independent commercial oversight on major engineering and construction projects.
The role is focused on contractor payment certification, cost verification, and commercial risk control, ensuring that all claims and invoices are accurate, measurable, and contractually
compliant.
This is a high-authority role within an independent assurance team, requiring strong judgment, technical-commercial depth, and the confidence to challenge contractor submissions.
Key Responsibilities
· Review and certify contractor interim payment applications (IPAs)
· Validate quantities against drawings, site progress, and BoQs
· Assess variations, change orders, and claims
· Ensure compliance with contract terms and agreed rates
· Monitor project costs and highlight risks and overruns
· Support resolution of payment disputes and commercial issues
· Prepare clear and defensible commercial reports
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field
· 13–20+ years experience in:
o Quantity surveying / cost engineering
o Contract administration and payment certification
· Strong experience with:
o BoQ-based projects
o Contractor claims and variations
o Cost control and reporting
· Experience in infrastructure, industrial, or oil C gas projects
Preferred Certifications
· RICS, NIQS, or COREN
· PMP (advantage)
· ISO 9001 Auditor or equivalent
Key Competencies
· Strong understanding of FIDIC and standard contracts
· High level of commercial and contractual awareness
· Ability to independently verify and challenge contractor submissions
· Strong reporting and stakeholder management skills
