As we scale into a year-round ecosystem and global movement, we are seeking an exceptional Lead Graphic Designer to elevate our visual identity and creative storytelling.
Role Overview
The Lead Graphic Designer will be responsible for defining, maintaining, and evolving the TEDxMaitama visual brand across all platforms and experiences. This role goes beyond creating graphics—it requires a strategic creative leader who can translate ideas into compelling visual narratives that inspire audiences, attract partners, and position TEDxMaitama as a world-class platform.
The successful candidate will lead the design function, oversee creative production, and collaborate closely with marketing, partnerships, media, events, and community teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesBrand Leadership
· Serve as the guardian of the TEDxMaitama visual identity.
· Ensure consistency across all brand assets, campaigns, and communications.
· Develop and maintain brand guidelines and creative standards.
· Continuously evolve the visual language while remaining aligned with TED and TEDx brand requirements.
Creative Direction
· Lead the conceptualization and execution of creative campaigns.
· Translate conference themes into compelling visual experiences.
· Develop innovative concepts for speaker promotions, event campaigns, partnerships, and community initiatives.
· Provide creative direction for multimedia projects and marketing campaigns.
Design & Content Production
· Design high-quality visual assets for:
o Social media campaigns
o Event marketing materials
o Digital advertisements
o Website graphics
o Presentation decks
o Partner and sponsor materials
o Email campaigns
o Conference branding assets
o Merchandise and promotional materials
o Annual reports and publications
Event Experience Design
· Design and oversee visual elements for TEDxMaitama conferences, salons, and special events.
· Collaborate with production teams on stage visuals, venue branding, signage, and attendee experience materials.
· Ensure visual excellence throughout the event journey.
Team Leadership
· Lead and mentor graphic designers, creative interns, and freelance creatives.
· Review and approve creative outputs before publication.
· Establish creative workflows and quality-control systems.
· Build a culture of creativity, excellence, and innovation.
Collaboration
· Work closely with:
o Marketing Team
o Partnerships Team
o Community Team
o Event Production Team
o Video Editors
o Photographers
o Content Creators
· Translate strategic objectives into compelling visual communications.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
· Minimum of 5 years professional design experience.
· Demonstrated experience leading creative projects and teams.
· Strong portfolio showcasing branding, digital design, campaign development, and event-related work.
· Exceptional visual storytelling ability.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in:
· Adobe Creative Suite
o Photoshop
o Illustrator
o InDesign
o After Effects
· Figma
· Canva Pro
· Presentation Design (PowerPoint, Google Slides)
· Motion Graphics and Animation
Additional experience in video editing is an advantage.
