We’re seeking a detail-oriented Laundry Attendant to manage the cleaning, pressing, and timely delivery of hotel linen, guest laundry, and staff uniforms, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and presentation across the property.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Linen & Laundry Operations:

  • Collect, sort, and process all soiled linen, including bed sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and table linen.
  • Operate industrial washing machines, dryers, and pressing equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Apply appropriate wash cycles, temperatures, and chemical dosages for different fabric types.
  • Inspect all laundered items for stains, damage, or wear before returning them to circulation.
  • Fold, press, and package linen to hotel standards, ensuring neat and wrinkle-free presentation.
  • Maintain par stock levels and report shortfalls or excess linen to the supervisor.


Guest & Valet Laundry:

  • Receive, tag, and process guest laundry and dry-cleaning requests within agreed turnaround times.
  • Handle delicate and personal items with care, following fabric care instructions on garment labels.
  • Ensure accurate return of laundered items to the correct guest rooms.
  • Address any guest laundry complaints promptly and escalate where necessary.


Uniform Management:

  • Collect, launder, press, and return staff uniforms on schedule.
  • Keep a record of uniforms issued and flag damaged or missing items to HR/Housekeeping.


Equipment & Chemicals:

  • Operate all laundry machinery safely and report faults or maintenance needs immediately.
  • Measure and dispense laundry chemicals correctly to avoid waste and fabric damage.
  • Perform basic cleaning and preventive maintenance of machines as per schedule.


Hygiene, Safety & Compliance:

  • Adhere strictly to health, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals and hot equipment.
  • Segregate and handle soiled linen in compliance with infection control procedures.
  • Keep the laundry area clean, organized, and free of hazards throughout the shift.
  • Report accidents, near-misses, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.


General Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records of daily laundry output and chemical usage.
  • Support the housekeeping team during peak periods as directed.
  • Participate in training sessions, team briefings, and performance reviews.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by management.


Requirements:

  • Minimum: Secondary School Certificate (WAEC/NECO) or equivalent.
  • Certification in Laundry Operations or Hospitality Services is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a hotel laundry, commercial laundry, or housekeeping role.
  • Prior experience with industrial washing and pressing equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of fabric types, care labels, and appropriate washing techniques.
  • Ability to operate industrial laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Physical stamina — ability to stand for extended periods and handle heavy linen.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Good time management with the ability to prioritize tasks during busy periods.
  • Trustworthy, discreet, and respectful when handling guest belongings.
  • Team player with a positive, can-do attitude.


KPIs:

  • Linen turnaround time meets or exceeds departmental targets.
  • Guest laundry returned accurately and within the promised timeframe.
  • Zero instances of damage or loss attributable to laundry handling.
  • Chemical usage is within budgeted limits.
  • Laundry area maintained to hygiene and safety standards at all inspections.
  • Positive feedback from guests and internal departments.
