Kitchen Assistant
Job summary
The role requires a hardworking, organised, and reliable individual who can assist with morning cleaning, stock arrangement, vegetable preparation, garnishes, mise en place, and general kitchen preparation. The Kitchen Assistant will work closely with the chefs and kitchen team to maintain cleanliness.

Responsibilities:
- Carry out morning cleaning of the kitchen, preparation areas, work surfaces, utensils, and equipment before service begins.
- Assist with checking, arranging, organising, and restocking kitchen ingredients and supplies.
- Wash, peel, cut, slice, and chop vegetables and other ingredients as required.
- Prepare garnishes and basic ingredients needed by chefs for daily service.
- Assist with general food preparation and mise en place before and during service.
- Ensure ingredients and kitchen supplies are properly stored and organised.
- Follow proper food-handling, hygiene, and food-safety procedures at all times.
- Minimise food wastage and handle ingredients carefully and responsibly.
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene, grooming, and kitchen cleanliness.
- Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Minimum academic qualification of SSCE or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant, Kitchen Porter, Prep Assistant, or similar hospitality role is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and cutting vegetables.
- Ability to prepare simple garnishes and assist with general kitchen preparation.
- Good understanding of kitchen cleanliness and basic food hygiene.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under the supervision of chefs and kitchen supervisors.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Must be hardworking, organised, punctual, reliable, and disciplined
- Must be physically capable of carrying out cleaning, preparation, stocking, and other kitchen duties.
- Willingness to work Tuesday to Sunday, with Monday as the regular off day.
- Must be flexible to work assigned shifts and support the kitchen during busy service periods.
- Applicants residing within Victoria Island or nearby areas are strongly preferred due to the absence of staff accommodation.
Remuneration: NGN 80,000 monthly
