Role Summary
We are looking for a hardworking, communicative, and reliable Kitchen Assistant to support our kitchen team. At KCC, communication is non-negotiable — you must be able to receive instructions clearly, report issues promptly, and work cohesively with the team at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate clearly and promptly with the Head Chef and kitchen team during service
- Report stock shortages, equipment faults, and hygiene issues immediately
- Assist in daily food preparation — washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning
- Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment
- Receive, sort, and store kitchen supplies and deliveries correctly
- Dispose of kitchen waste hygienically and responsibly
- Follow all food safety and hygiene instructions without hesitation
Requirements
- Strong verbal communication skills — this is the most critical requirement
- Ability to listen, take instructions, and confirm understanding before acting
- Able to speak up immediately when something is wrong in the kitchen
- Minimum 1 year experience in a kitchen or food service environment
- Basic knowledge of Nigerian cuisine and kitchen operations
- Physically fit — able to stand for long hours and lift supplies
- Available for early mornings, late nights, weekends, and public holidays
- Must reside in or be willing to commute to Katampe Extension, Abuja
- Neat, punctual, and team-oriented
