Teacher

Responsibilities:

Lesson Planning & Academic Delivery:

• Curriculum Alignment: Develop and implement comprehensive weekly lesson plans and termly schemes of work in strict alignment with the NERDC (Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council) curriculum and institutional standards.
• Instructional Presentation: Deliver engaging, student-centered lessons in English (grammar, literature, composition), Social & Citizenship Studies (civic rights, responsibilities, social issues), and Nigerian History (pre-colonial, colonial, and post-independence eras).
• Resource Integration: Utilize diverse teaching aids, instructional materials, and interactive technology (e.g., smartboards, educational software) to cater to different learning styles.

Assessment & Student Progress Tracking:

• Continuous Assessment (CA): Formulate, administer, and grade regular tests, quizzes, assignments, and projects to measure student understanding.
• Examination Management: Set high-standard termly examination questions, compile accurate academic records, and produce detailed end-of-term report sheets.
• Remedial Support: Identify struggling students early and implement targeted academic interventions or extra help sessions.

Classroom Management & Student Welfare:

• Learning Environment: Maintain an orderly, clean, safe, and visually stimulating classroom that encourages active student participation.
• Discipline: Enforce school policies, rules of conduct, and dress codes using positive behavioral reinforcement strategies.
• Mentorship: Serve as a class teacher or form tutor, providing pastoral care, moral guidance, and monitoring daily attendance.

Communication & Extracurricular Engagement:

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Provide constructive, professional feedback to parents during Open Days, parent-teacher conferences, and via communication diaries/portals.
• Co-curricular Activities: Actively participate in or lead at least one school club, society, or extracurricular activity (e.g., Press Club, Debating Society, Jet Club, or Sports).
• Professional Development: Attend departmental meetings, school assemblies, staff briefings, and continuous professional training workshops.

Requirements:

• Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed. or B.A. (Ed.) / B.Sc. (Ed.) / NCE) in English, History, Political Science, Sociology, or a related field.
• A regular Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.Sc.) combined with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
• Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is highly preferred.
• 1–3 years of teaching experience in a reputable private secondary school environment. Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes
• Deep, accurate knowledge of English grammar, mechanics, Nigerian historical contexts, and civic education concepts.
• Exceptional written and spoken English, with clear diction.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), virtual learning environments (Google Classroom, Zoom), and school management systems.
• High emotional intelligence, patience, strong organizational skills, time management, and a genuine love for working with adolescents.
• IImpeccable moral character, passing all standard school background and reference checks.
