Intensivist

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert clinical management of critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Lead ICU rounds and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Manage life-support systems, including ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Perform and supervise critical care procedures (e.g., intubation, central line insertion, arterial line placement).
• Coordinate care with surgeons, physicians, anesthetists, and nursing teams.
• Respond to medical emergencies and rapid deterioration cases.
• Oversee infection control and ICU protocols compliance.
• Participate in on-call ICU coverage rotation.
• Provide guidance and training to junior doctors and ICU staff.
• Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation and reporting.
• Contribute to hospital quality improvement and clinical governance programs.

Requirements:

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCP, FWACP, or equivalent in Anaesthesia/Medicine with ICU subspecialty).
• Minimum of 10–15 years post-fellowship experience in Intensive Care Medicine.
• Valid practicing license with MDCN.
• Strong knowledge of critical care protocols and emergency medicine.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in high-risk clinical environments.
